Jonesboro Open Final Preparations

Jonesboro, ARK- The 2018 Disc Golf Pro Tour is less than one week from pulling in to Jonesboro for the 2018 Jonesboro Open presented by Prodiscus.   Professional and amateur disc golfers will compete during the three day tournament on April 6 – 8.  The professionals will play three rounds on one of the longest courses on the Pro Tour located in southwest Jonesboro.

The growth from the inaugural Jonesboro Open in 2017 to this year is easily noted by looking at the number of players coming to town.  As of March 27 over 200 players are registered coming from 30 different states as well as Germany, Finland and Canada.  Brad Pietz, the Tournament Director, says that the Men’s portion of the Professional side in sure to max out at 104 participants.  “Last year we had 54 signed up on the Men’s side,” Pietz said “We set the max and our goal was to max out, and to do so is very exciting!”

Many local, national and international companies have partnered with the tournament to enhance the efforts.  Prodiscus, a disc golf manufacturer in Finland, is once again the Presenting Sponsor.  They chose Jonesboro to help get their brand more visible in the US.  Centennial Bank, Cromwell and Jonesboro Coca-Cola have all agreed to be Naming Sponsors.  East Arkansas Broadcasters, KJNB-TV, Lyon’s NEA Trophy, Artents, Jonesboro Cycle & ATV, Bennett’s Landscaping and Sunbelt Equipment have all donated goods and/or services to the event.  The Jonesboro A&P Commission also helps fund the tournament.

There are several ways for you to be involved in the event.  Additional sponsors are needed to help make the Jonesboro Open one of the best events on the Disc Golf Pro Tour.  Volunteers are also needed to help run the event.  Just as important is for the community to come out and watch these men and women who are the very best on the planet play.  Jonesboro should be very proud to have them here and we need to make it known we want them back.

The Jonesboro Open is held at Disc Side of Heaven disc golf course, located just north of RidgePointe Country Club.  Competition will begin at 8:30 each morning and continue all day; the leaders will tee off at 3:00 each afternoon.  Saturday and Sunday will be the most spectator friendly as there will be games, food, vendors and plenty of world class competition to watch.  To learn more about how to be a part of the Jonesboro Open, simply log on to JonesboroOpen.com or email Brad Pietz at DiscSideofHeaven@gmail.com.  Pietz can also be reached by calling 870-336-0347.
