Field for 2018 Jonesboro Open is larger than 2017 with two months to go
Jonesboro, AR – Organizers of the 2018 Jonesboro Open presented by Prodiscus have announced the field for the event has already surpassed 2017 numbers with two months to go. In 2017 the inaugural Jonesboro Open saw 54 Men’s Professional Open (MPO) and 12 Female Professional Open (FPO) disc golfers gather in Jonesboro to try and tame Disc Side of Heaven’s Championship Course. Along with those 66 professionals, 77 amateurs also took part in the event.
Registration for the 2018 Jonesboro Open began on January 1. From January first to February sixth, 68 pro players, 56 MPO and 12 FPO, have announced they are coming to Jonesboro for the championship. Including in the 56 MPO are five of the current Top 10 Players in the world including defending 2-Time World Champion and Jonesboro Open Champion (tied #1) Ricky Wysocki. Also planning to be here are 4-Time World Champion (tied #1) Paul McBeth and defending United States Disc Golf Champion (#3) Nate Sexton. The other Top 10 players signed up as of February 6 are (#6) Chris Dickerson and (#10) Jeremy Koling.
In other exciting news the 2017 Jonesboro Open showcased players from 23 different states and two foreign countries. So far in 2018 players from 27 states, one from Canada and four from Finland have signed up for the event. There is potential to reach a maximum field which would be 104 MPO and 24 FPO and organizers are hoping that comes to pass. Tournament Director Brad Pietz said, “I am very excited with the results so far but I want us to max out the field to put on the best show we can for Jonesboro. I know of about ten-to-twelve more players that have told us they are coming and just have not signed up yet.”
The 2018 Jonesboro Open will be held on April 6, 7 & 8 at Disc Side of Heaven, located near Ridgefield Christian School. The public is invited to come out and watch all weekend.
Prodiscus and Jonesboro Open Continue Partnership
JAN 2 – Jonesboro, Arkansas: The Jonesboro Open and Prodiscus announced on January 2 they will continue their partnership to bring elite, professional disc golf to Northeast, Arkansas. The second
iteration of the Jonesboro Open presented by Prodiscus will be April 6-8, 2018 at the Disc Side of Heaven Championship Course and will be the third stop on the Disc Golf Pro Tour.
The Jonesboro Open was started by Tournament Director, Brad Pietz, who looked to bring an elite level disc golf tournament to the state of Arkansas. The inaugural Jonesboro Open saw 143 disc golfers travel to Jonesboro including 54 of the top professional men and 12 of the top professional women tackle the challenging Disc Side of Heaven course. Ricky Wysocki took home $2,500 as the inaugural open champion and Paige Pierce won $1,350 as the women’s champion.
“It was truly a vision come to life last year as the world’s best players came to Jonesboro to play on a course that we created,” Pietz said. “Prodiscus was a huge part of the success and I am very happy to have them back on board as we share a common goal of making this tournament one of the best on the Disc Golf Pro Tour.”
Prodiscus was founded in Finland by current Owner and C.E.O., Kai Vesa, and has continued to expand its growth beyond Europe and into the United States. Prodiscus representative, Baker Helton, shares his excitement on the continued partnership with the Jonesboro Open.

As part of the agreement, The Disc Side of Heaven Championship Course will be upgraded with additional shortened Prodiscus turf teepads to improve the course for female competitors.
